Programs & Services
Social Services
Social Services include Case Management, support, advocacy and counseling. Case
management services seek to meet the needs of individual clients by utilizing
agency and community resources. In addition to the programs and services of ForSight
Vision, the staff works with clients to access such services as SSI, SSDI, Rent
Rebate, Energy Assistance, Blind Pension and other community and government services.
The staff also helps individuals cope with their vision loss by providing education,
support and counseling.
Support Groups
Peer support groups are held at various locations in York and Adams Counties.

Adams County Vision Loss Support Group - Gettysburg area
Meets Second Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at a restaurant
or picnic area in the Gettysburg area. Please call for current location.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Discussions on vision loss and issues with eye
conditions such as Macular Degeneration, offer support for others, and learn about
educational products that may assist someone with visual impairment.
First Friday Group - York
Meets the first Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at ForSight
Vision in York.
This is a life skills education group which features a speaker covering a different
topic each month that is helpful to those who are visually impaired. Scheduled
topics include "Adapting Your Home for Vision Impairment", "Indoor and Outdoor
Safety", "Depression Education", 'Diabetes" and more.
Friendly Social Club - York
This group meets every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at ForSight Vision
in York.
Discussions range from issues of vision loss, to lending support to others and
participating in a variety of activities.
Glatfelter Center Support Group - York
Part of Lutheran Social Services, they meet the third Tuesday of each month from
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Glatfelter Center at Sprenkle Village, 1802 Folkemer
Circle, York PA.
Participants support one another in coping with vision loss and discuss related
topics.
Hanover Vision Loss Support Group - Hanover
The Hanover group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00
p.m. at Homewood at Plumcreek on Westminster Avenue in Hanover.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Discussions on vision loss, and issues with eye
conditions such as Macular Degeneration, offer support for others, and learn about
educational products that may assist someone with visual impairment.
Low Vision Self-Help Group - New Oxford
Meetings are held the third Monday of each month from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in
the Wellness Center (Encore Room #1) of the Cross Keys Village in New Oxford.
Northeastern Senior Center Educational Program - Mt. Wolf
The Center holds meetings the second Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. -
10:30 a.m. for presenting educational material on vision loss conditions, such
as Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Diabetic Retinopathy. Other
topics include: magnification products, video magnifiers, and low vision aides
to assist with activities of daily living.
Self Management Program
A unique program consisting of four sessions that addresses the needs of persons
newly visually impaired; techniques for activities pf daily living, local and
national resources, technology equipment, low vision aides and coping strategies
for prolonged self management of vision loss. Please call 717-848-1690, extension
