Low Vision Services
The Low Vision Center of Forsight Vision is located in the main office at 1380
Spahn Avenue, York. Low Vision is a term that describes a condition in which a
person who is visually impaired has some useful vision but has difficulty performing
every day tasks such as reading, watching television, doing laundry, etc.
When an eye care professional refers a patient to the Low Vision Center, the
Low Vision Coordinator will call the patient to schedule an appointment. A comprehensive
case history will be taken and an eye examination by our low vision specialist
will be conducted. The patient’s motivation, needs, an attitude toward their vision
impairment will be assessed as well.
Realistic goals are established and appropriate aids and appliances are evaluated,
selecting what is best to meet each person’s individual needs. Emphasis is placed
on maintaining independence.
